Dior Colors, a special exhibition in Seoul

To mark its first anniversary, this summer the House of Dior in Seoul welcomes the exhibition Dior Colors, a tribute to the art of color continually celebrated in the House's creations.

“A collection could just as convincingly be done in black and white, but why deprive fashion and women of the prestige and charm of color,” Christian Dior asked in his autobiography. Permanently struck by the bright hues in his childhood garden at Granville, he enthusiastically celebrated color in all its diversity and expressiveness in his creations. For him, pink was “the sweetest” color of all, with red the color “of life” and green “of nature”.

Like a cabinet of curiosities, the Dior Colors exhibition retraces the richness of this palette across four themes: pink and red, green and blue, white and gray, navy and black. In the art gallery located on the fourth floor of the House of Dior in Seoul, designed by the French architect Christian de Portzamparc, each of these themes is illustrated by a selection of haute couture creations from 1947 to the present day, each reproduced in miniature, in addition to other items such as accessories, shoes, hand bags and perfume bottles. The result is a voyage of inspiration through the House’s color-rich world.
