The story of Tíscar Espadas continues to grow adding a new third chapter in 2021, CAPÍTULO III.
The London-based designer introduces garments stepping away from the seasonality of the fashion industry; they are made from a combination of exploration and technical construction. Incorporating the delicacy of details, care for material and what is accidentally found along the way of making.
CAPÍTULO III, shows the frontier between the divine and the earthly, myths and humanity, spirituality and reason. Its background comes specifically from the renaissance entrances located in Úbeda, Tíscar’s hometown in southern Spain. Yet, this is not an architectural reference but rather a symbolic one: The Gods appearing in the portal, despite being considered mythological and unreal figures, speak of universal themes that still survive in today’s world. The 21st Century’s man still relies on the imaginary.
Therefore, the new garments designed by TÍSCAR ESPADAS shows how boundaries can be bridged through dreams, desire and creativity in the searching for a common illusion.
The connection between the imaginary and the real is materialised in the design, and can be seen through details such as leather belts. In the same way a belt ties clothes to the body, it ties the wearer closer to reality. A paradox, considering that straps in CAPÍTULO III are opening our imagination. Straps, ropes, belts are embedded into jackets, shirts, jeans and pockets, with the aim that each person, playing precisely with their invention, can shape the garment as desired. “There is a constant tension between restriction and imagination”, Tíscar explains. It can also be seen in the hats, reminiscent of horse blinkers, that restrict and give space for the mind to roam.
CAPÍTULO III is a result of many different connections and collaborations with creatives, in a similar but yet again a totally new way compared to the previous collections of TÍSCAR ESPADAS.
