When I think of Ungaro my first thought is always Paris.
On my last visit, I saw an amazing exhibit of one of the largest collections of Lalique. I was in awe of the intricate details, the colors, the materials, and the craftmanship. It was a stunning display of the decorative genius of its creator, and a profound confirmation of my lifelong love of art history.
Each time I come to this incredible city – even when just entering the Metro station – I feel like I am entering an exhibit. It’s one of the only places where I don’t need to go to a museum, I am in a museum all the time. It is the “City of Light” only because there is so much to see.
Paris’s wealth of decorative motifs inspires me, whether I’m walking through the Metro station, gazing at a façade, or opening an elaborate door. These things invigorate me and bring me so much joy.
I realize that even the American Starbucks feels chic and sophisticated in Paris.
When it comes to Emanuel Ungaro, it’s the House where I feel the most excited and exhilarated. Being able to go into the archives and immerse myself in his exquisite artistry -- from the 1970‘s on -- inspired this latest collection.
Paris and Ungaro, inseparable, bound together through history, fashion, art, and design, will always inspire me."
