The Fashion Museum Bath’s special exhibition for 2017 will be ‘Lace in Fashion’, showcasing over 50 exquisite pieces to demonstrate how lace has been used in fashion from the time of William Shakespeare to the present day. This exhibition explores the fascinating history of lace. From the 1500s to 1700s, this enchanting and precious fabric was a high-value fabric and a sign of prestige, mostly worn by royals and the aristocracy. Mechanisation followed and by the end of the 1800s many people could afford to wear lace. Today there are so many tecniques to produce it thanks special machine but uman creativityi remains the most powerful engine, yesterday like today.
