Incinque Jewels 2021 Award: the winners

The second edition of the Incinque Jewels Award, directed, curated and conceived by the architect Monica Cecchini and promoted by the Incinque Open Art Monti Association, was staged from 15 to 17 October for the first time during the first edition of Rome Jewelry Week and in the unprecedented location Auditorium di Mecenate.

"Joy" was the theme of the 2021 edition and invited creatives to design a work that would attempt to recover the gestures and spirits of conviviality for a social regeneration: conviviality understood as cheerfulness, lightheartedness and lightness, a desire to share states of mind and to leave behind negative memories.

The Commission of the Incinque Award 2021, in charge of assigning important awards, was composed of Laura Astrologo Porché, jewelry journalist for the Celebre Magazine World group, Barbara Brocchi, Creative Manager, Illustrator, Writer, Designer, Teacher at IED, Bianca Cappello, jewelry historian and critic, curator, teacher and author of several exhibitions and publications on jewelry, Eugenia Gadaleta, communication consultant and teacher, founder of the Milano Jewellery Tour project, Emanuele Leonardi, art director of the Incinque Jewels Award, goldsmith artist of the "Gioiello Narratore", Matilde Pavone, Master goldsmith specialized in High Jewellery, coordinator and teacher of the course in jewelry design of Accademia Italiana Roma, Marina Valli, jewelry designer, president of the Roman association Officine di Talenti Preziosi OTP and teacher in Jewellery Design, Jonathan Giustini writer and journalist and Monica Cecchini, architect, designer and curator of art events, president of the Cultural Association Incinque Open Art Monti and founder of the project Roma Jewelry Week.

Epifanio

Alberto Milani, president of the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York, awarded the prize to Claudia Civitarese, a young graduate of the IED Rome, who presented the Rinascita bracelet that tells the story of the designer's relationship with water through four phases: the view from above, the impact, the immersion and the exit from the water.
The creation will be the protagonist of a special project and from Rome will land on the new American jewelry platform Jedora.com.
A Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Davide Maule, Italian goldsmith, for having distinguished himself with his artistic activity in the panorama of high jewelry.

Claudia Civitarese

The jury awarded the first prize to the Greek jewelry designer Vasiliki Merianou, creative mind of Lokta Art.The whole committee appreciated her necklace Nido made of recycled newspaper, real bee's nest and golden powder that tells about the ability of man and nature to adapt to the circumstances of life. The author was awarded a solo exhibition at Incinque Open Art Monti Gallery in Rome.

Vladyslav Kladko

Second prize for Francesco Ridolfi, awarded thanks to his ring La città nel cielo (The city in the sky) inspired by a fantasy story in which a city, symbol of resistance, spreads its wings from the mountain and begins to float in the sky. Third prize was awarded to Roman goldsmiths Glauco Cambi and Epifanio. The former presented the necklace Fuori dall'Eclissi (Outside the Eclipse) which symbolizes the process of elaboration and overcoming of pain. Epifanio created a necklace, entitled Emozioni, which expresses the emotion of the joy of living, an explosion of colors that ends in a tear of happiness. The three goldsmiths will exhibit a selection of creations of their production inside the Gallery Incinque Open Art Monti.

Formedarte di Rosamaria Venetucci

A press kit prize, a fundamental tool for communicating one's creations to journalists in the sector, was awarded to Norwegian goldsmith Vladyslav Kladko offered by communication consultant and teacher Eugenia Gadaleta.
Giorgia Zoppolato, founder of the blog MissGiò, will create as a special prize a photo shoot for the Italian goldsmith authors Rosamaria Venetucci and Rossella Ugolini.
The award plaques were made by the artisan Stefano Antonelli, with the support of the sponsor of the Ass.Cult. Arte e Mestieri Rione de Monti.

Even inside the Auditorium of Maecenas it was possible to live the virtual experience proposed by the start up CULTT of Holger Lazzaro with narration by Giacomo Buonafede.
The participants of the jewelry contest were able to enjoy a special evening thanks to the hospitality of the Georgian Embassy on the terrace of Palazzo Grazioli, and they all received a gift of high symbolic value from the Georgian Embassy consultant David Gomarteli who attended the event. The winners and the Georgian goldsmiths who participated in the contest, Salome Kobulashvili and Pati Kakhniashvili, also exhibited their creations here.

Davide Maule

All the selected works were the protagonists of a professional shooting produced by Alessandro Gionni and curated by Monica Cecchini. The photos were published in the exhibition catalog together with shots of the city of Rome, also by the same author.
Exceptionally, for the entire duration of the exhibition, the site was open to all visitors free of charge.
