The new collection by Nicola Brognano flows to the rhythm of a romantic street-couture with spontaneous sensuality. Consistent with the stylistic vision that earned him the Who's On Next prize last year, the fashion designer carries on for next season an eclectic femininity with an easy elegance. The girls draw freely from the male wardrobe mixing its essential pragmatism with the fluorescent optimism of the 80’s. The clothes dream in technicolor, in vivid contrasts of red and purple, blue and burgundy, fuchsia and lilac. On them geometric prints are mixed with floral patterns into elegant digital compositions. The attitude is always casual and natural, casually deploying flowing dresses embellished with bows, ruffles and flounces alongside streetwear pieces and cargo pants with contrasting stitching. Maxi decorative buckles appear on male clothing. Maximalist shoulders tower on tight dresses, long dresses alternate with super short skirts, loose pants with tight silhouettes. This dual sensitivity is also present in the materials, which draw both from couture and urban daywear: romantic lace, georgette, velvet burnout are combined with technical fabrics, nylon, varnish, faux fur. This audacious pop and tailoring mix is transported in a thoroughly modern and everyday context. Just like the writing "Hot Couture", embroidered or printed on sweatshirts, affirmation of a freedom of style which is both fresh and immediate.
